Job Description

We are looking for a highly experienced Sales Director to develop, lead and direct the performance of all sales activities (both new business and account management) across the UK & Ireland. The Sales Director will establish effective growth plans / strategies for the Company to expand the client base, meet revenue and profit targets and contribute to the development of training for the sales team to optimise their skills, productivity and performance. This is a board level role and the Sales Director will be responsible for reporting to the board.

The Role

  • Deliver revenue, profitability and sales growth in line with company targets and take responsibility for profit and loss in the UK territory
  • Direct, supervise, motivate, monitor and manage team performance providing clear direction and working standards based on company wide standards and processes
  • Achieve personal and team sales revenue targets through new business and account management
  • Increase market share in existing markets and maximise new business development opportunities
  • Ensure the team identifies and creates sufficient new business opportunities and manages existing accounts to the highest standard; including revenue generation and proactive management to retain high levels of client satisfaction in line with the Companys client strategies
  • Provide regular coaching and mentoring in sales performance, providing assistance and action plans for individuals for negotiations, closing sales opportunities, demo preparation, planning, presentations, closing sales and achieving targets, in order to build team motivation and selling skills
  • Maintain a detailed knowledge of the market, Company (and competitors) products, market position and technology
  • Ensure team accurately documents and stores correspondence relating to client activities inline with the Companys documentation policy and ensure that the team update the CRM system at all times
  • Recruit and train sales staff to the Companys Management Standard as agreed with senior management
  • Conduct one-on-one appraisals with the sales team to build effective communications, to understand training / development needs and to provide insight for the improvement of sales / account management function; in terms of revenue and activity (prospecting, demos etc)
  • Provide timely feedback and report to the Board re sales opportunities, pipeline and performance
  • Liaise closely with the marketing director in the development and implementation of the marketing plan and the finance manager with regards to invoicing and re-enforcing prompt payment of outstanding invoices through the sales team and the credit controller
  • Liaise closely with senior figures (GM / Directors) in other territories, to share information for cross-account selling
  • Liaise with Support Centre team for the timely resolution of outstanding client issues and the upkeep of all client configuration information
  • Schedule and manage sales meetings
  • Control of expenses for the team
  • Liaise with the Finance department re billing enquires / issues
  • Set examples for the team in areas of character, commitment, organisation, selling skills and work ethics
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures and ethics and ensure they are communicated and implemented by the team


  • Highly experienced sales director with strong leadership qualities and the ability to motivate the sales team in order that they consistently exceed target
  • Experience in either FM / complex IT solutions sales
  • Proven skills in managing the end-to-end sales process from opening to closing the sale (both new business and account management)
  • Excellent interpersonal, team motivation and mentoring skills
  • Well organised, good time management skills and sound commercial judgement
  • Excellent written and verbal communication / presentation skills
  • The ability to delegate authority and responsibility with accountability for follow-up
  • Must have experience of selling business to business complex sales solutions with a 6-12 month sales lifecycle.
